For now, the cruise line only offers two-night trips over the Grand Bahama. This rebranding of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line marks the latest in the portfolio of Margaritaville business lines. Already the name is attached to restaurants, casinos, resort hotels, and even retirement communities. The tie-in of the lifestyle brand makes a lot of sense with cruising, and there will no doubt be plenty of fans eager to set sail starting in April. On the ship there will be JWB Prime Steak & Seafood, Frank and Lola’s Pizzeria, the Port of Indecision Buffet, and the LandShark Sports Bar.

As a Buffett fan, I would have preferred a more immersive experience. But I can also see where having too much Buffett make alienate newer cruisers and -- let's face it -- younger and more diverse passengers. The classic Buffett audience is aging; Jimmy's songs may seem timeless, but most were released in the 1970s. Far smarter to focus on margaritas and parrots and palm trees, and keep the yacht rock to a minimum. While most of the exterior cabins feature a picture window or porthole, there are a limited number of 525 square foot balcony suites available on deck 10.

One way you can tell that Margaritaville at Sea Paradise is not a new ship is by its deck plan and layout. Some of the areas of the ship, such as the Port of Indecision buffet, show their age by being more cramped than what you'd expect on newer vessels. It was so hard to get a seat here that people resorted to carrying food all over the ship, leaving dirty dishes in lounges far away from the restaurant. We were surprised to learn on our 2022 sailing that the Margaritaville at Sea appeal goes far beyond Parrotheads, as Jimmy Buffett's fans are called.
